Chris Sharpe

Head of Business Development, Strategy and Innovation

Chris brings a wealth of reinsurance experience to the Inver Re executive team having spent over two decades in the industry.

He began his insurance career in 1997 following the completion of a degree in mathematics from Liverpool University. He joined Hiscox as part of the reinsurance underwriting team.

His prominence in the group was recognised in 2005 when he was asked by the then CUO of Hiscox, Rob Childs to help set up and run a reinsurance operation in Bermuda. Chris soon became CUO, a Hiscox Partner and director of Hiscox Bermuda and was instrumental in the creation and running of the well-respected Bermuda business.

Following a sabbatical in 2012, Chris decided to leave Bermuda and return to the UK to spend more time with his family. He used this time to pursue different experiences and explore his multitude of other interests such as art, film, sports and charity work and started a retail / commercial property business in Devon and Cornwall which he still has today.

Chris remained connected to the reinsurance industry through a Non-Executive Directorship at former client GeoVera Reinsurance Limited and in 2016 he decided to use the skills he had developed from starting up Hiscox Bermuda to enter the Insuretech space as founder and CEO of start-up Kinsu. As CEO, Chris developed answers to a diverse set of challenges encountered by any new start up business.

Chris’s unique experiences which combine a technical understanding of the reinsurance landscape, an experience with start-up businesses and a digital first mindset makes him an invaluable asset to the Inver Re executive team.
